Presentation

Created in 1993 in the Chemistry Department, the NMR centre of the University of Aveiro was initially financed by the programme CIENCIA of the National Science Foundation (FCT). In 2000, the University upgraded the facilities, which were again improved in 2007 with a grant from FCT and the co-funding programme POCI 2010, source FEDER. In 2003, two new NMR equipments were acquired (500 MHz and 700 MHz) and two were upgraded (300 MHz and 500 MHz). The Aveiro Lab pioneered in Portugal solid-state NMR, LC-NMR and the study of natural products and metabonomics. It is now a partner in the Portuguese NMR Network (http://ptnmr.web.ua.pt/), which encompasses 11 NMR groups across the country.

 


Spectrometer BRUKER AVANCE III - 300 MHz

Liquid-state NMR spectrometer (narrow-bore), 7.1 T magnetic field equipped with:

- Work station AVANCE III 300 (HP  Z420 operating system Linux – CentOS 5);
- Z gradients;
- 2 rf channels (1H, X);
- sampleXpress automatic sample changer for 60 samples;

- Variable-temperature unit;
- Liquid state probes: 5 mm QNP (1H; 13C, 19F, 31P); 5 mm TBI inverse detection (triple tuned probe; X = broadband; Y = 31P); 10 mm broadband (31P - 103Rb)

Spectrometer  BRUKER AVANCE III - 400 MHz

Solid-state NMR spectrometer (wide-bore), 9.4 T magnetic field (ultrashield) equipped with:

- Work station  AVANCE III 400 (HP  Z400 operating system Linux – CentOS 5);
- Z gradients;
- 3 rf channels (1H, X, Y): 2xBLAX1000, BLAH1000;
- Variable-temperature unit;
- solid state probes: CP/MAS 2.5 mm broadband, 2xCP/MAS 4 mm broadband, CP/MAS 4 mm for low gnuclei, 7 mm 1H CRAMPS, 2xCP/MAS 7 mm broadband, wide-line multi-nuclei, HXY triple resonance 4 mm MAS equipped with a short circuit, shunt capacitor X-channel and four exchangeable XY inserts providing 31P/27Al, 13C/15N-2H, 27Al/15N-29Si and 13C/29Si XY combinations.

   - Solid state probes: CP/MAS 2.5 mm and 4 mm;
   - Liquid state probes: 5 mm QNP (1H, 13C, 19F, 31P), 5 mm BBI inverse detection (broadband); 5 mm TBI, 10 mm BBO, 3 mm LCSEI, 5mm TXI 500 MHz Z-gradient high resolution;
- HRMAS probe.

- Solid state probes: CP/MAS triple resonance 1.3 mm, CP/MAS TriGamma 2.5 mm, CP/MAS triple resonance 4 mm;
- Liquid state probe: 5 mm TBI 700MHz Z-gradient high resolution.

Booking and Prices

If you are not a member of the University of Aveiro, you must contact us before and fill the NMR reservation form.

Routine liquid-and solid-state NMR experiments are charged at, respectively, 70 and 75 Euros/hour. This price does not include discussion of the results, just recording and supplying the spectra.
