The Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP) mission is to produce research and knowledge that contribute to economic efficiency and good practices in governance in specific territorial contexts: European, national and regional, with focus on the Centro and Aveiro regions.
It gathers researchers from different scientific expertise in order to answer to this challenge, building on the diversity of approaches and methodologies.

U-bike starts at the University of Aveiro
U-Bike Portugal has arrived at the University of Aveiro! Coordinated by José Carlos Mota, teacher at the DSCPT and member of the GOVCOPP research unit, the project will contribute to improve the mobility in the urban space and also to the reduce its environmental impacts. The academic community is invited to leave their cars at home and travel to the University by bike.
The project, which is in the pre-selection phase of its future users, is co-financed by the Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources (PO SEUR), Portugal 2020 and EU (through the Cohesion Fund).
Also participating in the project are other GOVCOPP´s members: Felipe Teles and Frederico Moura and Sá, both teachers at the University of Aveiro. To get more information about U-Bike visit www.uaubike.web.ua.pt

The project involves a partnership among ZERO – Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável, the Global Footprint Network (GFN), responsible for the concept of Ecological Footprint, and the Govcoop research group of the University of Aveiro, with the support of researchers from the Universities of Coimbra and Porto. This is a 3-year project that starts in January 2018 and it counts so far with six Portuguese municipalities.
Teresa Carvalho, a professor at DCSPT and Govcopp researcher, was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the European Sociological Association (ESA). The election took place at the 13th Conference '(Un) Making Europe Capitalism, Solidarities, Subjectivities' in Athens, Greece from August 29 to September 1.
