biographical description

Maria Teresa is a Pharmacist, has a Degree and a Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra. Has a Master in Food Science and Engineering from the School of Biotechnology, Portuguese Catholic University, a PhD in Public Health and Pharmacoepidemiology from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Santiago de Compostela and a Post-Doctoral Scholarships by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, SFRH/BPD/35746/2007, during 6 years in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigillance. She is a Regulatory Affairs Expert, since 2002 by Portuguese Pharmacist College. She was Technical Director, Quality Director and responsible for Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance and Clinical trials, for more than 6 years in Pharmaceutical Industry. Since 2006, she is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Sciences at University of Aveiro, holding responsibility for several curricular units in the Biomedical Sciences degree and in the master in Pharmaceutical Biomedicine.

research interests
Herdeiro research experience included the design, implementation and evaluation of epidemiological studies, randomized controlled trials, cohort, case-control, cross-sectional studies, qualitative studies (focus group) and systematic reviews. She has expertise in assessment of medicines on health and economic impact, effectiveness of health interventions and real world data management, collection of data, analysis of databases, selection of information and statistical analysis. She received the award Professor Maria Odette Santos – Ferreira for Scientific Research (2012). She is currently member of editorial Board of Clinical Therapeutics, Primary Care Respiratory Journal and Revista Brasileira de Farmácia Hospitalar. She is reviewer of several national and international journals. She has more than 30 articles in the area of Pharmacovigilance, Epidemiology and Public Health, indexed in ISI web of knowledge and more than 60 oral communications in national and international conferences, and 3 books chapters .
