biographical description

Alda Marques graduated in physiotherapy (1999) and did her Masters (2003) at Coimbra, Portugal. Her PhD was funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) and is from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom. She is currently a senior lecturer at School of Health Sciences (ESSUA) and a researcher of the Institute for Biomedicine Research (iBiMED), University of Aveiro.

research interests
Marques research experience has included different methods (quantitative and qualitative) and approaches. Since 2009, she has been principal investigator of several funded research projects on respiratory sounds, pulmonary rehabilitation and dementia. She has published numerous papers and presented in her area of research. She is presently involved in research in two main patient populations: individuals with chronic respiratory diseases and those with dementia. Her research interests are by working with multidisciplinary teams, to:
1 – explore the effectiveness and different models of delivery rehabilitation interventions to chronic respiratory diseases (pulmonary rehabilitation) and dementia; 2 - improve patients' and families management, in the field of chronic respiratory diseases and dementia; 3 – develop and implement new measures to be use clinically e.g., respiratory sounds as a diagnostic and monitoring measure.
