The iBiMED Genomics Facility (iBiGen) is integrated in the GenomePT consortium, which belongs to the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures.

GenomePT – National Laboratory for Genome Sequencing and Analysis aims to enhance the participation of Portuguese scientists in national and international genome projects, and promote genome research in important areas such as health, drug discovery, environment, marine resources, freshwater and biotechnology (agri-food, green chemistry).

iBiGen supports research in the field of genomics. The facility is set up with state of the art technological solutions to carry out microarray experiments (genotyping and gene expression), next generation sequencing services as well as advanced bioinformatics and statistical analysis to internal and extramural researchers.

iBiGen provides next generation sequencing and nucleic acids microarrays services as well as advanced bioinformatics and statistical analyses. iBiGen main support include:
  • Access to state of the art technologies in the field of genomics;
  • Training in genomic methodologies and high throughput analysis;
  • Technical expertise and support in experimental designs and methodology selection;
  • Bioinformatics pipelines for data analysis and biological interpretation;

The genomics facility offers next generation sequencing services using Illumina NextSeq550 and MiniSeq platorms. Microarrays services are also available for genotyping (iScan), methylation analysis (iScan), gene expression (Agilent) and aCGH (Agilent) studies. We can also provide bioinformatics support for the analysis of complex datasets generated by either sequencing or microarrays.
